The PositiveCaseVent\PCV Valve reduces CrankCasePressure; it recircs PistonBlowBy along with a small bit of Oil, back to the AirIntakeManifold; it should be replaced, or at least cleaned, every 4Years\33kMiles.
PCV Valve Replacement
- ~ With engine cool, locate PCV Valve on backend of EngineLeft ValveCover, near FireWall.
- ~ Remove larger rubber VacuumHose elbow from PCV Valve.
- ~ If PCV Valve has a Coolant OxBow, Pinch+Plug the 2 small CoolantHoses with ViseGrips+BoltPlugs.
- ~ Using ViceGrips, slide off SpringHoseClamps & remove CoolantHoses from OxBow.
- ~ This PCV CoolantLoop operates parallel with Heater CoolantLoop to prevent WinterIcing.
- ~ Remove Old\Dirty PCV Valve with 1/3 CCW turn.
- ~ Clean Old PCV Valve & VacuumHoses with CarbThrottleSpray.
- ~ Shake Old PCV Valve; its bad if it does NOT rattle.
- ~ Insert Clean\New PCV Valve; 1/3 CW turn; ValveCover PlasticTabs may break, do NOT overtighten.
- ~ ReInstall all above items.
- ~ Inspect all PCV Hoses+Tubes+Clamps for Broken\Cracked\Loose items.
- ~ Run engine, Look+Listen for Vacuum+Coolant leaks that cause RoughIdling\Stalls\OverHeating.
